The Seoulist is an independent travel media for international visitors to Korea. We translate and explain reporting from Korean local news, with an emphasis on practical, verifiable information — including the parts of Korean tourism that get less attention in English. This page sets out, in plain language, what we accept, what we do not, and how we work. It is meant to be enforceable against ourselves: if we ever fail one of the commitments below, readers should be able to point at this page.

When we discover an error after publication — whether through our own review or a reader's note — we correct it. We identify a specific venue only by citing Korean news reporting, a police or prosecutorial announcement, or an official administrative action (a fine, suspension, or public disclosure by a government body) — with a link to that source.

For tips we receive directly that Korean media has not yet reported and authorities have not confirmed, we describe the situation without identifying the specific business — for example, "a restaurant near Myeongdong" rather than a name.

Our goal is to protect travelers — which we do by describing the patterns and practices to watch for, and by pointing to the official record where a specific warning is already public. This standard does not weaken our warnings; it changes how we source them: from the official record and reporting, not from our own first naming.
